2017 Black Girls Rock! Awards on Saturday night (August 5) at the NJPAC Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The stars were joined at the event by fellow actors Issa Rae , Rutina Wesley , Skai Jackson , Yara Shahidi, and
Dascha Polanco along with musicians Sza and Ne-Yo and Olympic fencer Ibtihaj-Muhammad .
The event is created by Beverly Bond back in 2006 and honors Black women who are trailblazers, change makers, or dynamos in their respective fields.
