When then Governor Fayose Of Ekiti State was some few hours away to hand over power to the Governor-Elect, He tweeted something that caught my attention that night(I’m not a supporter or a fan)and I had to put His notification on, just to see how it was all going to unfold. Alledgedly, He said the EFCC where around his house and that he was seeing “suspicious movements” around His vicinity.
He went on to tweet severally about going to surrender the next day to face the accusation of corruption and abuse of power pertaining to His term in office—to cut the long story short, He did and now He’s still in detention, I’ve been following all of this drama closely from His personal twitter account Handled by his social media PA. Yesterday afternoon, his handle tweeted about feeding prisoners at the EFCC detention center where He’s also being held currently.
According to His tweets, He’s sympthatizing with the Prisoners/Detainees and also condemning the justice system of the country as if it’s all news to Him, as if He just fell from Mars or Jupiter and now realizing the terrible condition that the justice system of Nigeria is in. Yes, He even fed the hungry Prisoners and they sang the National Anthem together after They ate. His fan base have been applauding his bravery(that isn’t there)and according Him so many unnecessary titles and You dare not disagree with them—You would be responsible for the insults You receive. Mr Fayose’s twitter Account has been all about praising himself since He surrendered to the EFFC, He even wore a lovely black T-shirt with “EFCC I’m Here” imprinted on it, as ridiculous as this might sound—this is happening.
My question is, do we encourage this Politicians and praise Them in order to encourage Them to loot inconsiderably and then turn around to throw Us bones like dogs? Or do we stand up to Them and reject the bones? When You fight the oppression that they are putting you into, Then you are persecuted. Yes, He has not been proven guilty by a Court Of Law but personally He is acting like a guilty politician running back to the Public for sympthathy and support. Personally, He just made a mockery of the same People who voted Him into Power and trusted Him with it worst of it all is that—-this isn’t a new occurrence in Our society. We’ve seen the same type of stories played out everyday in our African politics, same way.
I wish Him all the best and goodluck to Him if He’s proven guilty, and if He’s innocent then congrats to Him. I’m still watching this closely to see how all these play out. Let us all be vigilant and reject the mockery of our political leaders—for We Have the power not them. Good Morning and may You Have a lovely day ahead.
